Alemany Weekend: Oct 1-2

In the midst of soccer and birthday madness this weekend - all wonderful by the way - I managed to make early morning runs to the Farmers' and Flea Markets at Alemany.  Unfortunately, I completely forgot that this was the first Sunday of the month, which means the big Flea action was in Alameda.  Still, we did find a few shiny bits, and I will calendar in a trip to Alameda soon.

Yes, do!

Chestnuts, up very close and personal.

Chesnuts in a fall bouquet.

Good Green Glitter, but a bit creepy.  The eyes follow you.  Really.

The biggest theme for me this weekend was cases.  There were trunks, steamers, suitcases, jewelry boxes, all manners of luggage really.  I didn't bring any home, but admired many.

Flower frogs!  I love the old glass versions.

In amber.
Amber again, this time in a  Roman wine carafe.

I am a big fan of anything not Made in China.  The first thing I do with every purchase is confirm where it was made, or, more pointedly, where it was Not Made.  ABC - Anywhere But China - is the rule unless looking for something truly handcrafted or from 1,000 years ago.  It is bad enough we have little choice in everyday items.

Colorful Mexican Crown.

Mirrored fun.

All my pretty purchases.  (And please ignore the wires.  Those are  on my short list . . . .)
